Franny Lee, Associate Director, Stanford Intellectual Property Exchange
Originally a composer and jazz musician (BFA, York Univ.), Franny Lee was drawn to the complexities of copyright and digital communication, and has been studying and working on these problems for over 10 years.  She earned an LLB/JD (Queen's Univ.) and a Master of Laws degree in Law, Science & Technology (Stanford Law School). She practiced as an intellectual property litigator with Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP in Toronto, focusing on digital rights and Internet matters in entertainment, media and communications industries. Franny formerly clerked with the Copyright Board, assisting with certification proceedings and orphan works applications, and now consults for the Board on research issues, policy initiatives and administration of copyright collecting societies.  She was the 2010-2011 Resident Fellow of CodeX – the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics, and writes and speaks on copyright and digital innovation issues.
