Biography

avid I. Schwartz is an associate professor and undergraduate program coordinator in the School of Interactive Games and Media and the proposal co-PI. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and has had a rich and varied academic career spanning multiple fields of engineering and computing. Recognizing the academic potential of games, Schwartz founded the Game Design Initiative at Cornell (GDIAC) in the spring of 2001. In May 2006, these efforts established Cornell’s Minor in Game Design offered by the College of Engineering, the first formal Ivy-League game design program. After joining RIT in 2007, Schwartz has mentored several undergraduate and graduate students who have studied and developed games and other interactive products. Schwartz has focused on developing serious games for academia and industry. Schwartz is currently part of a team that was recently awarded an NSF ATE grant for developing game-based modules to teach digital forensics.
