Who they are. The NMC is an international not-for-profit organization focused on innovation, technology, and new media in the educational sphere. The NMC brings deep expertise in educational technology through its work with practitioners who are developing and deploying the latest technologies on campuses around the world.

Their role in the Next Generation Courseware Challenge. The NMC will support both the Next Generation Courseware Challenge and the Integrated Planning & Advising for Student Success (iPASS) initiative. The NMC will facilitate community building and idea sharing among the network of grantees, partners, and thought leaders through the deployment of various communication strategies and a series of online and face-to-face events. The NMC aims to highlight exemplar innovators to amplify the initiatives’ impact, encouraging widespread adoption of institutional best practices that have increased student outcomes.

Goals. The NMC’s overarching goals are:

  • Deep learning

  • Amplification / dissemination
  • Field building

Major objectives include:

  • Create case studies and dynamic project profiles for all grantees and partners, to be continuously updated to reflect latest developments.
  • Weave the networks of grantees, partners, and other stakeholders into a cohesive, vibrant community; support and advance the community’s shared vision with a range of communication strategies.
  • Launch major outreach efforts led by grantees at key conferences.
  • Support efforts to raise awareness of iPASS and how improved advising can contribute to better student retention and completion rates. The NMC will build a multi-year program aimed at meeting the needs of innovative practitioners and mission-aligned institutions that wish to implement iPASS by working with current institutional users to develop presentations at convenings and key conferences.
  • Organize and host online events and face-to-face working strategy sessions to promote community engagement and synergistic sharing of implementation protocols.

    • Design and track metrics to enable evaluation of impact, reach, and value of awareness generation and engagement effort in expanding effective implementation of courseware and iPASS across hundreds of institutions.

Partners. The NMC’s strategy is built upon the unification of the grantee and partner network. The NMC will engage various grantees, partners, and innovators to convene for in-person and online events. The NMC will share the results of its deep learning process with network partners including SRI International, Tyton Partners, the Online Learning Consortium, and EdSurge.
