NMC Teachers Buzz Mon Dec 11 6pmSLT - Virtual Morocco Field Trip!

The Global Outreach Morocco team at Johnson & Wales University has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism of Morocco on an experiential learning project using Second Life to create a virtual Morocco.

Virtual Morocco contains monuments and experiences from Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakesh, and includes space for projecting real-world events into the virtual environment. The goals of this multidisciplinary team project are to provide an immersive experience that educates visitors about Moroccan culture while enticing them to think about Morocco as a travel destination.

This is a fascinating SL student project which involved students going to Morocco RL [ Flickr photos of students' visit to Morocco ] and then coming back to demonstrate what they learned about the country and the culture with a project build in SL. The build also includes some very interesting and innovative scripted objects which could be useful to other such student projects in SL. The students will be presenting this formally in a week or so. For this field trip Ann Enigma will give us an overview of the project and then 2-3 of the students will talk us through their builds.

This is another ‘must be there’ Teachers Buzz field trip, so don’t miss it!
