NMC Releases White Paper on Maximizing Campus Impact

The NMC today released its latest white paper, Maximizing Campus Impact: Lessons from the Trenches. Based on a series of discussions among NMC directors, the paper addresses what it means to have impact; describes ways to tell whether a center is having an impact on campus; and presents seven strategies for maximizing impact. Case studies and examples from the NMC membership illustrate each strategy.

The topic was first discussed at the 2005 NMC Directors' Meeting, where nearly 40 directors considered the question of impact, how to assess it, and how to assure it. The conversation was continued in a related session at the 2005 NMC Summer Conference. Finally, a draft version of this paper was used as a springboard for discussion at the 2006 NMC Directors' Meeting. In all, more than 100 NMC directors have contributed to the content of the paper.

We extend special thanks to all those who participated in the conversations on this topic and especially to those who sent us their stories. By sharing examples and strategies that have worked for others, we hope that the lessons learned by them will be of benefit to you.
