Session Description
The life experience of the second-year college journalism student frequently limits their potential to write and produce compelling narrative stories. Conversely, many individuals with pre-onset Alzheimer’s disease have lived full lives, and have rich stories to share - - yet face their inevitable loss. Their families feel helpless.
This project introduces students to patients and provides a unique opportunity to create digital multimedia stories to help families cope with change and preserve the stories of their loved ones, while helping students to discover a narrative voice and improve the quality of their writing in a way that brings meaning and value to all.

While it has been close to 2 years since we published this video, it is viewed in recently more than 700 times per month, and this does not even count where it is accessed on other sites such as YouTube, blip.tv, and Google Video. But one of the more fascinating uses of the video is on >dotSUB, a web site where visitors can annotate the movie with translations of its captions into more than 100 other languages.
Technology Internet TV Show
Ask the Techies Internet TV show (VODcast) at Ohio University has started it's 3rd season. Everyone uses a personal computer, but many people find it more worthy of the name "personal confuser."
Ask the Techies breaks down that confusion via a mix of hosts and on-computer-screen video capture. The hosts not only explain the content but make the viewer feel comfortable with technology. This is an interactive show where people can “ask the techies” questions via e-mail. D.Lee Beard and his co-hosts then answer these viewer questions on camera with a full video explanation to make sure the viewers don't miss a thing.
Ask the Techies offers videos on demand that students of all ages including faculty and administrators can watch/listen to over and over again as often as needed for free (as well as commercial free!). Faculty can even link to our videos for course instruction.
Apple 2007 Insomnia Film Festival

This competition is open to teams who will have 24 hours to produce a three minute, award wining video.
On Saturday, October 13 at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern time), we’ll post a top-secret list of elements — special props, dialogue, settings — you get the idea. Choose any three to include in your movie. Then all you and your team have to do is write, cast, shoot, edit, score, and upload your 3-minute masterpiece within 24 hours. No problem, right?

The best live video streaming technology

Do you know what the best live video streaming technology is today? This could be an expensive question because, once you have invested in a wrong technology, chances are you will stick to it. As a result, you will pay a big price later in many senses.
Live video streaming is widely used in distance education, Web conferencing, online movie delivery, broadcast and so on. Knowing the answer to this question is important to streaming video producers and their companies, schools, government agencies, or organizations. Unfortunately, the answer to this question is not available.
Making Art in Second Life

On May 10, 2007, we were fortunate to have Second Life artist Filthy Fluno (or in Real Life, Jeffrey Lipsky) visit NMC Campus, where he spoke to 20+ audience via live audio. The purpose of this event was to share the process by which he created a painting commissioned by NMC, called “Search For Excellence.”
What was special in this session was that Filthy played for the audience a video he shot which captured the development of this piece of art, and was the video played, he described the symbolism, techniques, and what he was thinking at different stages.
