Plaza 500 is a full service hotel located in downtown
Vancouver, approximately 25 minutes from the University
of British Columbia campus. Complimentary shuttle service
will be provided by NMC to and from the Plaza 500 and
the UBC campus for conference attendees.
Guest room rates include one complimentary access to
the hotel Health Club or pass to Fitness World. The
charge for an additional person is $15 per person (Canadian).
Secured underground parking can be arranged upon request
at the fee of $8.00 per night (Canadian).
The Plaza 500 Hotel is currently going through a complete
renovation. The hotel expects to be able to provide
wireless service by the time of the conference. Plaza
500 currently has dial-up connection.

Holiday Inn Vancouver Centre is a full service hotel
located just 3 blocks from the Plaza 500, also approximately
25 minutes from the University of British Columbia campus.
Complimentary shuttle service will be provided by NMC
to and from the Holiday Inn Vancouver Centre and the
UBC campus for conference attendees.
Guest room rates include complimentary access to the
hotel fitness center, indoor pool, and sauna.
Attendant monitored covered parking is accessible off
West Broadway, and outside parking available at back
of the hotel is also accessible off Heather Street.
Daily Parking Fee is $6.00 (Canadian).

There are
several ways you can make reservations for the UBC Gage
Towers and West Coast Suites. Either online
or by completing a “Request
for Accommodation Form”
and mailing or faxing to the reservation office at 604-822-1001
or email to reservation@housing.ubc.ca.
To ensure the special rates and room availability you
must make your hotel reservation no later than May 17,
2004. If you have any questions concerning your reservations

The Gage Towers and West Coast Suite dormitories are
conveniently located on the University of British Columbia
campus overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding
mountains. The dorms are within 5 minutes walking distance
of the conference meeting venues and NMC will also provide
complimentary shuttle service.
Several types of accomodations in the
Gage complex are especially attractive for families
or campus teams. Rates range from $49CA/$35US for one
of four private dorm rooms sharing a living room and
kitchen to $123CA/$85US for a two bedroom apartment
with kitchen and living room area. See the attached

While almost the entire University of
British Columbia campus is wireless, there are areas
within the dorms where wireless is not accessible due
to the building structure. Wireless can be accessed
in Gage Towers. Internet dial-up connections are available
in all rooms. Hi-speed internet access is available
in the Gage Towers for $10.00 per day (Canadian) + GST.
Parking for the West Coast Suites and Gage Towers is
available for the rate of $5.00 per day (Canadian).

Traveling into Canada |
|
As a reminder for those of you who do not live in Canada,
you will need to make sure you have all necessary documents
upon arriving and departing Canada as you will be going
through customs. It is best if you have a passport but
if you are coming in from the United States an original
birth certificate, social security card, and driver's
license will do.
Canadian Tax Refund Information
As a non-resident visitor, you can claim
a refund for goods and services tax (GST) and the harmonized
sales tax (HST) you paid on eligible goods and/or short
term accommodation while visiting Canada.
