| A special NMC-wide Director's Meeting will be held
February 19-20, 2004, in
Austin, Texas, on the shores of beautiful Town
Lake.
It will be the beginning of spring in Austin that time of year,
and temperatures average between 65 and 70 degrees (F). We'll be
within walking distance of some of the best live music, food, and
fun to be had that time of year anywhere, and wildflowers will be
beginning to bloom. Fun is only a secondary goal, of course....our
real task will be to strengthen connections between NMC campus liaisons
and institutions, and to explore the potential for projects of all
scopes and kinds among NMC colleges, universities, and museums.
A special "Collaboration Marketplace" is planned which
will showcase several exciting NMC collaborations and projects going
on now (and in some of which your institution can still participate),
and help you highlight your own project ideas, brainstorm new ideas
with colleagues, and find partners to help you make them happen.
We'll have a lot of expertise among us, and we are sure to see
some exciting collaborations develop. You'll also have the chance
to get in on the ground floor and help us develop one or more large-scale
NMC projects for which we will be actively seeking major funding
this year.
Make plans now for this one-of-a-kind event open only to NMC Directors
and Academic Champions!
The meeting will kick off Thursday, February 19 with a reception
and dinner beginning at 6 pm., and continue through Friday, February
20, wrapping up at 5 pm. Included in the modest "at cost"
registration fee of $125 will be the reception and dinner Thursday
night, breakfast and lunch Friday, and all refreshment breaks.
