Session Description

This session discusses how to move beyond the familiar model with rich media collections which involves a specific repository technology and one, and only one, user-facing tool with which to discover, augment, and view content. The presenters argue that it is past time to break this model of captive content and dedicated client. This presentation will focus on a real-world use of educational interoperability standards to mix-and-match content from various systems with tools of different kinds: general and pedagogical, commercial and open-source. The talk will emphasize the breadth of choice and technologies, speed and ease of integration, mitigation of risk, and several case studies of how this approach is being used today.
