A bit of time has gone by since the 2008 NMC Summer Conference at Princeton, but we wanted to make sure we jotted a few notes on the closing plenary by Henry Jenkins- an inspirational presentation on What Would Herman Melville Say to Soulja Boy?: Remix Culture and the New Media. This was not only taking place in a gorgeuos real world facility, Princeton’s Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall, but was also live streamed to a remote audience gathered in the Second Life version of the same roo - 2008 NMC Summer Conference Keynote Audio Player

The John Lennon Bus was special feature at the 2008 NMC Summer Conference, where conference participants had opportunities to tour the bus and even get their own 15 minute session to record a sound loop. A special one day workship was made available for conference participants who signed up on our wiki; 7 participants were chosen to spend a full day experience where they recorded a song and created a video. At the closing session, everyone at the conference got to see the video Where do We Go - NMC@15

In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the NMC, we asked our members to share via flickr a collection of creative photos that somehow represented the number 15 and we also solicited their photos of NMC memories. Combining these with ones from the NMC's own vast archive, we commisioned this video that was shared at the opening of the conference. The soundtrack was from the performance of NMC members who participate in the Rock Hall Jam at the 2006 NMC summer Conference in Cleveland-- sit bac - Tigers and Teachers

Last week I went back to ‘ol Nassau and attended the annual New Media Consortium conference, held this year at my alma mater. The conference was very engaging, especially since I don’t think I have ever attended an event geared specifically towards the kind of work we do at CCNMTL. Typically, whether its developer, librarian, technorati, activist, or academically oriented, our work shares aspects with other attendees, but usually not a similar overarching mission. I was reminded how special ou - Week 12: Princeton NJ and NMC

Two girlfriends/co-workers and I just returned from the NMC Conference at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. Here are some pics we took. Although we had a wonderful time, traveling when you're 12 weeks pregnant can be a little tricky (you just get hungry and tired frequently). Lucky for me, I had two trusty gals with me, one of which is 11 weeks pregnant. We got a little carried away with the camera... Being pregnant wasn't enough to stop us from trekking all the way to the east - NMC 2008 @ Princeton

Well finally made it to the wonderful state of New Jersey, Princeton to be exact. I plan to jot some notes about my experiences. So far so good with exception of the guy I sat by on my first flight out of Lincoln. I swear he forced his legs apart as wide as he could, nearly pushing me into the aisle the whole flight. Anyway, got through that one, delayed an hour in Chicago, got to Newark, waited in the transportation line for 45 minutes, missed first bus to Princeton, caught the second one…yipp - Made it to ‘Jersey’

I’ll be out of town for a while. For the most part I’ll be in Princeton, New Jersey for this conference, where I will talk about a paper I wrote with this guy for this journal, and hopefully jam on this bus. One thing about being in Princeton is, there’s no better place to suddenly collapse… perhaps in the middle of my presentation, as I’m answering a question. I’ll be rushed to Princeton Medical where my mysterious malady is investigated by the curmudgeonly Bertie Wooster, who used to be so - NMC Summer Conference

I'm attending the NMC Summer Conference for the second year in a row; this time around, the conference is at Princeton University. As a baseball fan, that's crazy close to Yankee Stadium which will be closing at the end of this year, after 85 years in operation. So, I checked . . . if the Yankees were playing in town. NOPE. They're ironically playing in my hometown while I'm in NJ/NY.if they have Tours available on Saturday. YES BUT, all of the advance individual tickets are sold out via Ticketm - Tag This Conference!
