The 2008 NMC Directors' Meeting will be held in Austin, Texas on March 12 - 13, 2008. The meeting will include a NMC Business Meeting and focused discussions.
Business Meeting
In this segment of the meeting, NMC members will discuss the recent Directors' annual survey; review NMC Services that include Virtual Worlds and Pachyderm; discuss NMC Initiatives; discuss the future of NMC meetings; and provide a preview of the coming year.
2008 Horizon Report
The 2008 Horizon Report, the fifth in the series, was released in January at the ELI Annual Meeting. This year's report included a discussion of the trends and concepts that have shaped the content of Horizon Reports over the years. In this conversation, we will take a look at those conceptual threads, as well as continue the discussion begun at ELI that will inform the 2008 Call to Scholarship.
NMC Global Outreach
The NMC is looking for ways to expand the membership and the reach of its activities globally. The 2007 Horizon Report was released in Spanish and Catalan and distributed broadly through Spanish-speaking educational channels; the 2008 Report will be translated and released in both languages in the next few months as well. NMC staff and Board of Directors have been working closely with institutions in Australia, and plan another visit there this summer to discuss an Australian version of the Horizon Report. The NMC website will soon include an option to display content in Spanish. In this discussion, NMC staff will invite the Directors to consider ways to enlarge the global community of the NMC, take the work of the NMC and its members to a wider audience, and collaborate with others around the world.
